Wunderman Thompson, a global marketing communications agency now part of VML, serves Fortune 500 companies worldwide. As an in-house Senior Designer, I spearheaded the complete redesign of the agency's internal design library, implementing a scalable system with design tokens and patterns.
A changing landscape.
As companies face increasing pressure to rapidly evolve in a competitive market, Wunderman Thompson's old Design System was no longer meeting their clients' growing demands. I proposed a complete overhaul of their white-label DS, rebuilding it from the ground up with the latest advancements, including tokens and support for multiple brands and themes. Additionally, we established a clear strategy to extend the system beyond Figma into a fully operational Design System that would include code and documentation.
This revamped white label solution is now in use across Wunderman Thompson's global offices, playing a key role in securing major clients like Coca-Cola and AkzoNobel. It has streamlined their development process and ensures a consistent, high-quality digital experience.
